Staff Analysis of the Legislation

This legislation prohibits county officials and employees from cooperating with the U.S. armed forces pursuant to Section 1021 of the Federal National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 if such cooperation is in violation of the U.S. Constitution, Georgia Constitution or Georgia law.  Additionally, county officials cannot serve on task forces with U.S. armed forces if the task force if the purpose of the task force is to investigate, detain or prosecute U.S. citizens who supported al-Qaeda, the Taliban or other forces engaged in hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners, as well as anyone engaged in hostilities against the United States or one of its coalition partners.
